Family Seeks answers at County Commission meeting
The County Commission conducted their usual meeting on Tuesday, October 29 with a number of approvals as well as hearing the grievances of parents disappointed with the Sheriff’s department following the loss of their son on April 28.The commission approved Kansas County Association Multiline Pool (KCAMP) as its 2025 property and liability insurance provider.
Funds awarded to county for Bridge project
Governor Laura Kelly and Kansas Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed recently announced a combined total of more than $40 million has been awarded for 40 bridge projects across the state.KDOT is awarding nearly $20.5 million through the Off-System Bridge program in the 2026 Fiscal Year to fund 21 projects across the state which includes Atchison County for the replacement of a bridge on Jewell Road nearly four miles north of Lancaster.
County Commission makes changes to 2025 budget
The Atchison County Commission met Tuesday morning to approve and rectify parts of the 2025 after receiving feedback from the citizens of the county who pleated to lower the mill levy in any way possible.
