Patricia J. Baldwin

Patricia J. Baldwin, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 85.

Patty was born on January 6, 1940, to Clarence and Hazel (Bellis) Miller in Atchison, Kansas. Patty was raised on a farm where she learned her strength and compassion that she passed to her children.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rebecca E Young, sister Shirley Hale, and husbands Loren K Temple and Edward Miles Baldwin.

Patty’s legacy lives on through her surviving children David (Kathy) Miller, Joseph (Teresa) Miller, James (Carol) Miller, and Sarah (Terry) Ayre. Patty is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Patty loved to cook and was wonderful at it. She turned that love into a career. She worked at colleges, homeless shelters, and daycare centers. She enjoyed crafts, particularly making crochet blankets for everyone in her circle. While a resident of Smoky Hill Nursing Home, Patty made over 75 lap quilts for her fellow residents, nursing staff, residents’ families, and anyone who wanted one! Patty also made many sets of potholders.

Patty was surrounded by loved ones as her physical journey came to a peaceful end. Her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew her.

Visitation will be held Friday June 6, 2025, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary. A funeral service will be held in her honor at University United Methodist Church on June 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate and honor her remarkable life and the mark she left on our hearts and lives. There will be drinks and cookies in the basement of the church, after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the University United Methodist Church, which was dear to Patty’s heart.

Patty’s life is a testament to love, strength, compassion, and perseverance. Patty will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rest in peace, dear Patricia; your legacy of love will continue to shine brightly.
