Nancy Ellen Congdon


Nancy Ellen Congdon (Johnson), 65, of Hermann, MO, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond Heights, Missouri.
  Nancy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 25, 1960, the daughter of the late William Ferman Johnson Sr. & Elsie Pauline Johnson (Welborn).
  Nancy spent the first 40 years of her life in St. Charles, Mo. Where she was a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and Christview Christian Church.  During that time, she worked In the Commercial Insurance business. 
  In 1979 she was united in Marriage to Jeff Congdon.  During their 20-year marriage, they were blessed with 2 children, Amy Catherine and Steven Douglas.
  Nancy relocated to Hermann in 2000 where she worked at several local businesses before she began a 17-year career with  First Bank.  She began in the call center and advanced to the position of Assistant Vice President and Manager for the First Bank Service Center. She attended the Hermann Christian Church and was a devoted and beloved member of the Hermann Eagles Auxiliary #1328 and the Missouri State Auxiliary where she served as The Auxiliary State President 2023-2024.
  Nancy lived life to the fullest.  She loved her extended family, fishing, music, all things food-related, and the many friendships she developed over the years.
  Nancy is survived by her daughter, Amy Congdon, of Chicago, Illinois; son, Steven Congdon (Kristin and sons Max and Sam) of Edwardsville, Illinois; stepdaughter, Felicia Congdon  (and children Ashley, Kelsey and Christopher), of Arnold, Missouri; sisters Dianne  (Rick) Pankau, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Elizabeth Diefenbach, of Eldon, Missouri; her beloved granddaughter, Emma and a host of adored nieces, nephews and her “greats”.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Harlan and Vi Congdon, brother William Johnson, Jr. & a brother-in-law Paul Worley.
  Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, with the funeral service to be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, with Rev. Andy Wilson officiating.
