Katherine (Kathy) Louise Schlereth, 74, of Conway, SC, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Kathy was born August 21, 1950, to Wilma (Billie) and Frank (Bill) Schlereth in Atchison, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and great-niece Logan Watowa
She is survived by her brother Tom (Carol) Schlereth of Atchison, KS, and her sister Valerie Watowa of Conway, SC. Three nephews, Jared (Fonda) Schlereth of St. Joseph, MO, Daryl (April) Watowa of Atchison, KS, and Greg (Erin) Watowa of Conway, SC. Two nieces, Christie (Mark) Stevens of St. Joseph, MO, and Karen (Josh) Stevenson of Conway, SC. Twelve great nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews, and her beloved cat, Edna.
Kathy graduated from Atchison High School in Atchison, KS, in 1968. She then went on to nursing school in St Joseph, MO, and graduated in 1971 as an RN. She was employed as an RN at Atchison Hospital in Atchison, KS, for over 25 years. She worked as a Home Health nurse for a few years, then she switched careers, working in the Leavenworth School District as a paraprofessional before retiring in 2021 and moving to Conway, SC.
Kathy enjoyed crocheting, painting, and creating her own greeting cards. Christmas was her favorite; she would play Christmas music all year round.; She loved to curl up with a good book with her cat in her lap.
Kathy loved spending time with her family, especially when playing cards/ games. She enjoyed attending church services at Langston Baptist Church and Beacon Baptist Church. She was a long-time member of the Carol Baptist Church in Atchison, Kansas.
