Harvey Franklin Mead, 80, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away in his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
A visitation will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. A committal service will be the following day, Monday, July 28, 2025, 11:00 am at Leavenworth National Cemetery with Pastor Reed officiating.

Harvey was born on November 22, 1944, in San Diego, California, the son of Franklin and Rosanna (Bartholomew) Mead. Harvey joined the Army shortly after graduating from high school, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Large Caliber, Expert Rifle, and Basic Missileman Badge. Harvey did his journeyman’s apprenticeship through the San Diego College of Trade School. He was a lineman with KP&L until his retirement in 2002.
On April 22, 1999, Harvey married Linda Wilson in Mesa, Arizona. They settled in Platte City, Missouri, until 2019, when they moved to Atchison. Harvey and Linda recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.
Harvey truly loved his family and was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humor. Harvey enjoyed playing golf and, in his younger years, played softball as well as being in a bowling league for several years.
Harvey is survived by his wife Linda Mead of the home, sons Mike (Missy) Mead, Olathe, Kansas, and Scot (Cheryl) Kirkendoll, Leavenworth, Kansas, daughters Kimberly (Marc) Wurzinger, Chicago, Illinois, Faith (Joey) Hinton, Atchison, Kansas, and Hope (Al) Kelly, Atchison, Kansas, grandchildren Colin, Kerry, Katie, Ava, Ella, Kiersten, Mikah, Tenley, Brittanie, Allison, Sean, Tyler, Tanner, Tayler, Taygen, and great-grandchildren Layla, Harper, Kaci, Lucy, Xadrian, Wrenley, Nora, Hallie, and Ezra.
