Edwin F. Amrein, 75, Wellington, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2025, at St Francis Hospital in Wichita. Ed was born September 29, 1949, in Atchison, KS, the son of Edwin and Pauline (Baumgartner) Amrein.
He was a graduate of Maur Hill Preparatory School and North East Kansas Vocational School. After graduation, Ed joined the Navy Sea Bees and served in San Diego, and Okinawa, Japan. Upon returning, he worked for the Shipyards in Leavenworth, KS before joining the Kansas Highway Patrol where he worked until retiring after a 32-year career. After retiring, he worked for Sumner-Cowley Electric Co-op for 12 years.
Ed married Karen Wagoner on July 20, 1990. Ed liked a good deal. Some he came upon, a lot he created. He and his wife Karen spent many occasions enjoying that pastime. Ed was a lifelong learner. He enjoyed making jewelry, welding, woodwork, and working on classic automobiles. He was someone who when asked about a problem, could come up with a myriad number of solutions to address it, and if able would go out of his way to help you fix it.
Ed and Karen shared a love for travel, creating cherished memories together as they explored new destinations and enjoyed many adventures along the way. But the joy of his life was family. He spoke often about them, and how much he enjoyed being with them.
Ed is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Aaron (Allison) Amrein; his daughters, Sarah (Greg) Willis and Megan (Hatem) Chahine; and his grandchildren, Ella, Emma, Brig, Whit, Brooks, Banks, Evie, and Rome.

He is also survived by his father-in-law, Wayne Wagoner; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Julie) Wagoner, Bob (Leigh) Wagoner, John Wagoner, and Scott Wagoner; sister-in-law, Debbie Haines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
