As fall approaches, apples are starting to ripen and soon be harvested. Today, there are over 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the United States.

The Project Concern, Inc. weekly menu is as follows for home delivered and congregate meals. Milk is served with each meal. Menus are subject to change. The Atchison United Way helps to support the Project Concern food program.

Local Atchison and area families are invited to the Atchison Cub Scout and Scouts BSA Carnival and signups Thursday August 22 at Atchison Elementary School between 6-8 p.m. There will be a bounce house, games and food available for those in attendance.

First Baptist Church will be holding a Youth end of summer event Sunday August 4 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. The event is free for all Middle School and High School students.
