As part of the awards presentation on Monday at the annual Heart Summit, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its winners for various Heart honors, one of which featured the Benedictine College Baseball team.
On Wednesday, the NAIA released the annual list of Champions of Character Five-Star Award winners for the 2023-24 academic year. Benedictine College Athletics earned a Gold Medallion – the program’s highest honor.

KRIS MILLER Hiawatha World Ryan Shopteese, 34, of Horton was sentenced today to 100 months in prison for aggravated battery that took place on the Kickapoo Reservation earlier this year. Shopteese was arrested on Jan.

Friday, August 2 Vehicles driven by Taylor Oberg, Atchison, and Christopher Tschauder, Atchison, were involved in an accident at 9th and Riley on Thursday. Oberg was cited for failure to stop at stop sign.

Late Tuesday evening, a motorcycle crash occurred in Atchison County that unfortunately claimed the life of a Oskaloosa man. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol stated the crash took place a little before 10 p.m.
Voters ventured to the polls Tuesday to make the choice of which candidates make the cut to advance to the general election in November for local races. The vote to decide the Atchison County Sheriff was an especially close race as incumbent Jack Laurie edged out Adam Potts by a total of 67 votes, 1,091 to 1,024.

Victor’s recorded time of 4:43.53 in the 1500 meter event that secured the Bronze for him and his country of Grenada.
