The Maur-Hill Mount Academy swim team competed in two meets this week traveling to Lansing High School Tuesday and Osawatomie High School Wednesday.
The Ravens got fourth in the Lasing meet with 213 points and fifth in the Osawatomie meet with 278 points.
MHMA had some swimmers standout including freshman Martha Madden who got second in the 100 yard butterfly at Lansing with a time of 1:18.38 and also getting second in the 500 yard freestyle 7:09.17.
Italian foreign exchange student from Atchison High School Matildé Nava placed third in three separate events in the two meets.
Nava earned a time of six minutes and 29.21 seconds in the 500 yard freestyle at the Lansing meet after never competing in the event before.
Nava got a time of one minute and 3.46 seconds in the 100 freestyle and a time of one minute and 23 seconds in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Senior Grace Sanford placed third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of one minute and 13.42 seconds at Lansing.
A number of other Raven swimmer improved their individual times in both meets.
“Overall everybody swam well,” “We had a lot of girls swimming in a lot of events. A majority of our girls got to swim four events and I’m always happy when that happens.”
MHMA was also able to honor its three seniors Sanford Emily Chmidling, Mallory Panchot and also Nava during the Lansing meet.
