A Friday night collision near along the western edge of Lancaster claimed the life of an 81-year-old Lancaster man, the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log report.

Gerald K. Parker died from a fatal injury after the 2013 F150 Ford truck was struck by a 2017 Mack Truck semitrailer at milepost 64.8 along U.S. Highway 73 at 286th Road.

KHP reports Parker was westbound about 7:18 p.m. along 286th Road when a northbound semitrailer along the highway collided with the pickup.

KHP identifies Dana A. Jenkins, 52, of Omaha, Nebraska, as he driver of the semi. Jenkins escaped injury.

Parker and Jenkins were both wore seatbelts at the time of impact. Both vehicles were towed from the crash site, KHP indicated.

Funeral services for Parker are scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 26 at Lancaster United Methodist Church, burial to follow in Lancaster Cemetery. A visitation with family will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Becker Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, according to his obituary posted online.
