A 37-year-old Houston Lake, Missouri man is facing nine counts filed Friday in Leavenworth County District Court in connection with a late morning shooting spree one day prior on the Centennial Bridge.

TOPEKA – MGP Ingredients, Inc., and Harcros Chemicals, Inc., today were fined $1 million each for violating the federal Clean Air Act when a cloud of toxic chlorine gas was released over Atchison, Kan., in 2016, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said. Both companies have paid the fines.

Atchison police officers arrested two occupants in vehicle Saturday night for numerous drug and firearm felonies following a pursuit throughout the city.

Police say a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle stolen in late March was recovered earlier this week likely has a connection to criminal activity at the sports complex in Atchison. 

Police say a man and woman have each landed jail stays following their arrests after an investigation and seizure of drugs Sunday at a residence near Atchison High School.

Atchison police authorities are on the lookout for a man from Buchanan County, Missouri, who is a person of interest in the case involving a stolen 2006 Jeep Liberty stolen Sunday from the 200 block of East Riley Street.

Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie reports there were two criminal acts committed on Sunday in a rural area of the county that are at the center of two ongoing investigations.
