The annual Halloween Parade throughout downtown Atchison traditionally sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Atchison has been postponed for 2020 due challenges presented in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kiwanis Club member Lindsey Hansen said instead Kiwanis Club members are planning to participate in the VFW Auxiliary Post 1175 Trunk or Treat Drive-Thru.

The Trunk or Treat event will take place from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in the VFW Post 1175 parking lot, 2201 Main Street. Trick or Treaters are encouraged come dressed in costume with their parents or guardian who are welcome to tour along the circle of decorated trunks while the hosting groups hand deliver the candy to the passengers inside the vehicles.

Potential participants, like businesses, clubs, organizations and groups wanting more information to sign up and join in hosting the frolic can contact Auxiliary members at 913-426-4784.
