At one time, the Welsh community of Northeast Brown County was quite prominent with surnames like that of Evans, Picton, Davies and Johns dotting the landscape.

At 7 p.m. on Jan. 15, enjoy an enlightening, free-to-the-public presentation by local historian Hillis Bowen, as he recalls those Brown County days in the 19th and 20th centuries at the Brown County Genealogical Society’s Research Center at 116 South Seventh, across the street west from the Brown County Court House Square in Hiawatha.

This presentation is not only just about families but also about Welsh stories and traditions.
