Atchison Genealogy has started a new project collecting veterans letters.

These letters will be preserved in archival sleeves in notebooks in the Kansas Room at the Atchison Library. Any veteran or family member who has saved a letter from any war or peacetime mission can take their letters to the Kansas Room on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon to be archived. Copies of the letters instead of originals will be accepted. Genealogy members can make copies for you at the library.

A picture of the vet in uniform and biographical information to go with the letter would be appreciated. If Tuesday mornings are not a good time, call 367-5005 for an appointment.

Atchison Genealogy believes that veterans letters are a part of the Atchison area genealogical and historical history and want to preserve as much of that history as possible.
