The Atchison Daughters of the American Revolution met Dec. 9 at the home of Janice Johnson.

Members are reporting volunteer hours in Service to America. Presently we have reported 556. Total yearly hours will be reported in January. Members also considered the opportunity to participate in Wreaths Across America.

Thanks were given to Mary Meyers of the Atchison Globe for her excellent coverage of the Flag Retirement Ceremony held on Veteran’s Day.

Our guest speaker was Jeannie Kiehl Wyatt, author of “Amelia the Town and People Who Loved Her.” The beautiful and personal stories that were shared in the book touched each one.

The next DAR meeting is 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Atchison Library.
