The Jefferson County North Chargers track and field team was well-represented at the 2A state meet in Wichita on Saturday.
For the boys’ team, Trevor Pentlin medaled by placing seventh in the 3,200-meter run. He finished in a time of 10:30.32.
Knox Tweed was 13th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.87. Only the top eight qualify for the finals. Tweed was 15th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.74.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jirou Gill, Ridge Robertson, Logan Budy and Kyle Budy finished third in the preliminaries with a time of 44.20 and will compete in the finals on Saturday.
In the javelin, Jacob Schrick finished with a medal, taking seventh on a throw of 161-09. Caden McAfee was 10th with a throw of 154-08.
Robertson finished 10th in the pole vault, clearing 12-00.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Kyle Johnson, Brayden Summers, Kyle Budy and Robertson qualified for the finals by placing second in the preliminaries with a time of 3:29.44.
In the girls’ high jump, Josie Weishaar medaled, taking fifth place by clearing 5-00.
Gretchen Babcock missed out on the finals in the 100-meter hurdles, taking 15th with a time of 18.68
The 4x100-meter relay team of Kassidy Robertson, Babcock, Karisa Schmalz and Annabelle Vaught qualified for the finals by taking sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 51.94.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Kaitlyn Schneider, Carlee Noll, Weishaar and Kassidy Robertson finished 10th in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:19.24.
JCN still has several athletes competing during Saturday’s portion of the meet.
