There’s plenty more to do in Atchison as we enter the month of June. Here’s just a few few examples:
Project Atchison presents the annual Mud & Suds Fun Run, 9 a.m. at Jackson Park. Event begins with packet pickup and registration at a cost of $26 per runner. Ages 4 through 7 will run at 10 a.m., followed by the 10:30 a.m. run for ages 8 through 13. Volunteers will be on hand to help kids stay safe and pull them out of the mud as needed.
The Atchison Public Library is kicking off the Summer Reading Program this week with a Universe of Stories!
The first meeting of the “One World, Many Neighbors” book discussion is being hosted on the evening of Thursday, June 6, at the library, 401 Kansas Ave. Read the short stories for this traveling, tri-county wide book club and join readers from all over for Indian food and fun.
While out for First Friday on June 7, stop by the Ice Cream Social at 5 p.m. for a refreshing treat. All through this summer, a free breakfast provided by Catholic Charities will be served up with activities for all kids 18 and under at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays. And as always, kids aged three to 99 can register for the Summer Reading Program inside at the circulation desk at any time, and earn prizes!
You’ll find more information on the Program and all of this summer’s events on our website at atchisonlibrary.org.
