Work continues on Benedictine College’s Westerman Hall. According to Marketing and Communications Director Steve Johnson, crews are starting the demolition of the existing concrete awning that extends around the ground floor on the back side of the building.

Johnson said this and other groundwork was done in preparation for the re-facing and the construction of the new addition.

Over the summer, the main focus was on asbestos abatement, and they “pretty much had that wrapped up before students returned to classes.”

According to Johnson, the renovations will include remodeling of the Westerman Hall façade, which will be brick and limestone, as well as a refurbishment of the labs, which would “bring them into the 21st century,” and widening of various community areas in the building.
