For the 10th year in a row, Benedictine College has been named as one of the best colleges and universities in the U.S. News Media Group’s list, “America’s Best Colleges.”
According to a press release from BC, the college placed 14 out 79 in the Midwest Division of the Best Regional Colleges category, moving four spots higher from last year.
According to www.usnews.com/colleges, the rankings are based on multiple factors, including location and the feel of campus life, the range of academic offerings, activities and sports, and cost and the availability of financial aid.
The schools are also judged by graduation and retention rates, undergraduate academic reputation, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving rates.
These rankings, according to the release, “provide a resource for parents and students considering higher education opportunities. Using a proprietary methodology, the annual U.S. News rankings represent the most comprehensive look at how schools stack up based on a set of 15 widely-accepted indicators of excellence, and help consumers evaluate and compare data compiled from more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools.”
In the past year, BC has had the largest number of full-time undergraduates in history, welcoming nearly 1,900 students. Recently, it has also completed new, “state-of-the-art athletic facilities for baseball and softball,” as well as a new student recreation center, according to the press release.
BC is also constructing a new engineering building and remodeling a science building.
According to the Kansas Independent Colleges Association, Benedictine College has grown by nearly 100 percent in the past 10 years and is now the largest private college in Kansas.
