An Atchison man remains in jail on a $30,000 bond amount awaiting his day in court for felony charges arising from an April 7 domestic disturbance that in the 700 block of S Street.

Donald E. Harvey III is scheduled for the 9 a.m. criminal docket on Friday, May 17, in the District Court of Atchison County. Harvey faces the following felony charges: aggravated domestic battery related to restriction of the victim’s airways, and felony theft in connection with the theft of a Chevrolet Malibu and misdemeanor intimidation of his victim.

Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson said police apprehended Harvey May 6 on an Atchison County District Warrant. The formal charges were announced to him soon after.

Police responded to a call during the noon hour on April 7 after a 25-year-old victim reported a man with whom she was involved in a relationship with had choked her and then took her vehicle without her permission, Wilson said. Police did recover the Malibu a short time later. The car was unoccupied.
