Food pantry

The Salvation Army of Atchison County, 926 Commercial St., is one of several local organizations holding food assistance events in the coming weeks.

The following events are set to take place in Atchison County for those in need of nutritional assistance. They have various qualification standards. Would-be beneficiaries should call in advance to see if they will be able to obtain aid.

Vyve Cares Program, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays at Vyve Broadband, 116 North Eighth Street. Vyve encourages customers to drop off canned goods and other non-perishable foods, to be donated to local food banks. Anyone who donates 10 or more qualified goods is to receive a Vyve Cares reusable grocery bags. Lasts through Thursday, Nov. 15. Call 1-855-367-8938 for more information.

Feeding America Food Distribution, 11 a.m. until gone. Continues on Monday, Nov. 12; Nov. 14; Nov. 16; Nov. 26; Nov. 28; Nov. 30; Dec. 10; Dec. 12; Dec. 14; Dec. 24; Dec. 26; and Dec. 28. More info, 913-367-1207.

Second Harvest Community Food Bank, Monday, Nov. 26, at Eisenhower VA Medical Center, 4101 S. 4th St. in Leavenworth. 816-364-FOOD (3663) for more info. Recurs on the fourth Monday of every month.

Christmas Tree Assistance, Angel Tree and Meal Programs, Dec. 19 and Dec. 20; beneficiaries must sign up in advance — no late entries accepted. Sign up at The Salvation Army from 10 a.m. to Noon on Nov. 5; Nov. 7; and Nov. 9; as well as from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 12. More info, 913-367-1207.
