Monday’s Atchison City Commission meeting includes five items of new business.
Commissioners will be asked to authorize the purchase of two 2018 Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicles for $59,676. The Atchison Police Department is due to replace two vehicles in 2018 with the Equipment Replacement Plan including $60,000 in its budget for the vehicles.
The utility vehicles would replace two 2015 sedans, a trend that started last year for APD. The purchase would come from Shawnee Mission Ford, which has the state’s contract for Ford vehicles.
Commissioners will also be asked to approve an underwriting engagement agreement with D.A. Davidison & Co. to provide underwriting services for an approximately $2,300,000 STAR Bond issuance. D.A. Davidson would receive a flat fee of $2,500 in addition to a spread not to exceed 1.45 percent of the principal issued. The increase in the city’s 1 percent sales tax generated in the district and 25 percent of the transient guest tax revenue from the Holiday Inn will go toward the STAR Bonds until they are paid off, according to the commission action report.
Commissioners will also:
Hear from Becky Berger, interim city manager, on the 2018 legislative policy agenda.
Hear from Justin Pregont, public works and utilities director, on a memorandum of understanding to bring high speed broadband internet service to Shannon Industrial Park.
Engage in an executive session for discussion of personnel matters on nonelected personnel regarding the hiring of a city manager.
After the 5 p.m. meeting in on the second floor of City Hall, commissioners will adjourn to a Land Bank meeting. Commissioners will hear on the conveyance of 1118 N Eighth St. and be asked to authorize a letter of intent to sell properties located at Seventh and L streets in an amount of $50,000 for an affordable housing development.
